    1. [GREEN-L] Re: Duff and Green families
    2. In a message dated 99-02-20 20:25:23 EST, you write: << Saw your post and hoped you might shed some light on this line for me please. I am descended through Wm. and Elizabeth Green Duff and their daughter Ann Duff who married Tully Choice, then through their child Sophia Choice m. Jesse Kirby and so forth. >> Hi Darlene, I show that Alexander MacDuff, who died in 1700, married Helen Grant. They had at least three children; (1) James Duff, born about 1716, who married Mildred Tutt in about 1738. (2) Eleanor Duff who married William Green, born about 1670 at Green's Norton estate in England. These are the parents of Robert Green, born 1695, who came to America in about 1710 with his uncle Sir William Duff, the brother of Eleanor Duff. (3) Sir William Duff, who married Elizabeth. I did not know that Green was the last name of this Elizabeth. Do you have any documentation of this family? I would be most appreciative of a copy of who you have to show who Elizabeth Green was. Hope this helps, Tom Green

    1. [GREEN-L] Re: Robert Green father of Lewis Green?
    2. In a message dated 99-02-20 12:19:08 EST, you write: << My William was born about 1670 and married Eleaner Duff. One of their children Robert Duff Green born about 1695 married Eleaner Dunn. Their son Lewis was born 1710/12 and married Elizabeth Sarah Lauderdale. >> Hi Sandi, Thanks for your reply and info. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. My info agrees with your for the first two generations but I do not show that Robert Green, born 1695 had the middle name of "Duff" but this is entirely possible. Do you have any documentation of this middle name for Robert Green? The next generation is where I realy would like to have documentation. I do not show that Lewis Green, born about 1710, was a son of Robert and Eleanor Dunn Green. If you have documentation of this connection, I will be very happy. This will connect two Green families that I have been attempting to connect for some time! I show that Robert and Eleanor Dunn Green had seven (7) sons named, William, Robert, Duff, John, Nicholas, James and Moses. As you probably know there is a very lengthy will of Robert Green, born 1695, which mentions these 7 sons, but I have not seen any documentation showing that Lewis Green, that married Elizabeth Lauderdale, was their son. Any documentation you can provide of this connection will be much appreciated. Tom Green

I think we do have the same Green family. I have that Charles Green died before 1847, and left eleven children, and Hezekiah I. Green was one of them. 3. Today I received the death certificate and obituary for my great grandfather James Thomas GREEN ("Tom"). He was born in 1871 and died in 1942. He lived in the Marion community of Montgomery Co. He was married first to Laura Metcalf of Houston Co. (my great grandmother) and second to Susan ("Susie") Hopkins of Montgomery Co. His parents were also "Mr. and Mrs. Jim Green" (death certificate lists them as James M. Green born in Montgomery Co. and Leiza Marlow born in Camden Co., Mo.). His sister Ellen ("Martha Ellen") married R. L. Bailey of Marion. His sister Viola married ? Jackson, and was living in Cleveland OH in 1942. I believe he also may have had a brother, Bailey Green, who died prior to this. If anyone has information about this family I would like to know. I am particularly interested in knowing for sure who James Thomas Green's parents were and any dates on them that may appear in a census. Thanks for any help anyone can give....this family has eluded us for years (Jim Greens are hard to trace!), and until tonight my mother did not know for sure who her own grandfather was! jan Houston Co. 2. Sonny & Rose Marler
    3. Hi All! New to the Green List and hope someone can help us find our ancestor William "Cedar" Green. This is what I know about him. Wm. Cedar Green b. Ireland/Scotland arrived in NY in 1778. At that time in NY there was a committee to instruct immigrants to the best part of the country according to their occupations. Since William was a farmer he was told to head for NC, so he went and bought land and built a house in a cedar grove, hence comes his name "Cedar" from his neighbor's. He lived out his days in NC. He had five children, two sons and three daughters. All grew up and married in NC. Don't know who his wife was or the names of his children except one, his son, wouldn't you know, another William. He went as William B. "Buckalu/Buckaloo Green b 1785 NC d aft 1850 Williamson Co. , TN and is buried in the Green Family Cem. mar. 3. New to the list. Looking for someone who may have a Roger Green in their family lines. This Roger Green would have been an adult in the 1780 - 1800 era. He was suppose to have been a school teacher. Possible locations are in Virginia, North Carolina, or Georgia. Not much to go on, but all we got. We are not related to this person, however he is mentioned in some old family letters and we are trying to locate where the family was located during this time period. We know they left Virginia and moved to Georgia. Later one of the lines lived in North Carolina. If we have the right family.... <g> Any and all help appreciated. Wyndell Taylor
