    1. [GREEN-L] ARMSTRONG / GREEN / Ireland / Cincinnati OH / Plainfield, IN
    2. Marilyn Hopkins, I am interested in any Armstrong information you come across for Cincinnati because of my Jane Armstrong Green who may have lived in Cincy before her marriage to Mathew Green, who was b. 1826, Co. Meath, Ireland.. Since she married Matthew about 1856 and they were both from Ireland I feel that there may be records showing Jane in Cincy during the years between 1850 and 1856. However, there is nothing in the city directories to encourage me on this. She might have lived in Kentucky and worked in Cincy, or something like that. She was born 1831-32 in or near Co. Tyrone, Ireland and I am fairly sure that she died in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Feb 27, 1879, aged 48 and was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery there. She died of a kidney disease. Her children were: my ggrandmother, Jennie Green, b. 8/31/1859 New Mexico Territory, and Matthew Green, Jr., b. 8/15/1857 in New Mexico Territory, and lastly an adopted girl, Mary Hagney or Hageney, born March 15, 1862, possibly in Cincinnati, Ohio. I believe that she lived in Cincinnati between 1862 and 1879. She lost custody of her children to the Children's Home of Cincinnati by order of the Police Judge on Sept. 30, 1867. City directories do not help much since I do not have enough information on locations of streets and maps to determine the likelihood of related family and friends who could corroborate my data. The children were sent to live with Quakers in Plainfield, Guilford Township, Hendricks County, Indiana. Her children grew up in this area with different families. Matthew Green grew up with the Joseph Small family; Jennie Green grew up with the Jessie White family, and I do not know who Mary Hagney grew up with. However, Jennie Green married John Wesley Macy in 1883 in Plainfield, IN and Mary Hagney married F. Jacob PACE on Dec. 25, 1879 in Plainfield, IN. Matthew Green, Jr. died in 1904, childless, in British Columbia, Canada, and owned an apple orchard in Washington State. -- Tim mailto:phwalls@prodigy.net Subject: [ARMSTRONG-L] Armstrong Date: Sat, 20 Feb 1999 01:12:15 -0500 From: Marilyn Hopkins <mhopkins@fuse.net> To: ARMSTRONG-L@rootsweb.com Sue, I saw you posted on the Armstrong rootsweb page, with Cincinnati behind you name. 2. Hi Everyone, I just started subscribing to the Green List. I am new to genealogy and am having a great time researching my family history. It is wonderful to have so many people willing to help and share information. My great grandmother died in Tulsa Ok during the 80's and was buried in Bixby OK. I'm currently contacting family members to obtain additional information. I'm embarrased as to the lack of information I know, but I'm curious if anyone else may have knowledge of her. If you have them could you please post them. >> Sure, this list is from the 1847 record on file in Fauquier Co VA, # 120 September 1847. If you descend from this line, I strongly urge you to send for this proceedings. Interesting stuff. Charles Green was deceased by 1847 which is why all the children were named in this estate settlement. JONAH WILLIAM S. HEZEKIAH I. ANN I. now the wife of SHADARAH FEAGANS CHARLES GREEN (the younger) SARAH A.LEWIS now the widow of Mr. Lewis now deceased SUSAN now the wife of SYDNEY B, ANDERSON JOHN deceased, his children NIMROD and ALDRIDGE CHAPMAN ALICE D. now the widow of Mr. Lake deceased ELIZA L. now the wife of LEONARD TRIPLETT This record is hand written (duh), and from the looks of it, I was the first person to read it since it was filed. I would be pleased to have someone else order the copies, and see if they get the same reading from it that I did. My line comes from Charles's sister Susannah who married George Brown in 1794. Enjoy, Joanne
