I'm also working on the set of Greens that came from Fauquier Co VA to Greenville Co SC in the late 1700's. Children of George Green and Elizabeth Underwood. Does anyone know who George's parents were? Hello all, It's been awhile since I sent a post to the Green list so I'm hoping some of the newer members will recongize my Green(e) line. Of course there isn't much to go on but here goes: My third great grandmother was Lucinda A. Greene and was born January 16, 1808 in Stephentown, Rens Co, NY (or that general area). She was the second wife (m: c1827) of Jonathan C Babcock (b:April 06, 1800) and by the 1840's the couple had moved west to settle in Henriette, Monroe Co., NY. The farm they ran until their deaths in 1858 was off John Street and is now part of the RIT campus. The family is buried in Riverview Cemetery, West Henriette, NY. Lucinda husband, Jonathan C. Babcock, is most likely the son of Amie Bly and Jonathan Babcock (son of Silas Babcock and Phoebe Wood). Jonathan first wife was an Ann Morey (or Moore). Searching for a needle in a hay stack is so much fun -- so any and all help on this line would be greatly appreciated. Judy Grote Cincinnati, OH grotejm@msn.com

My Green is going to be a tough one to ever find because I have so little information on her but here it is: SARAH GREEN married to HOSEA TAPLEY who was born in 1710 and died in 1780 in Granville Co. NC. I do not know where Hosea (or Sarah) were born or where they lived before settling in Granville Co. (some of the Tapleys seemed to have been in Caswell Co. area) but think they lived somewhere ? in Virginia. Not much to go on. Their daughter MARY ELIZABETH TAPLEY married THOMAS ERASTUS REDMAN and they lived in Iredell Co. NC having come there from ??? about 1750 or so. Hi Necolen: Ran your George & Pleasant through my files and the only possible link that my files show is a "Ples" GREENE, b. 1929 who married a Ruby MILTON. "Ples's" father was a George GREENE, b. 1884. If this is not the link you are talking about I would sure like to know what info you have; as, I have 37 George GREENE's in my file with very little info as to their children. Hoping to hear from you soon. Ron Greene RGReene431@aol.com

My Green family lived in Oklahoma and some moved to Southern Cal. 1957 Mrs. Eugenia Debra GREENLEE (nee GREEN), 37, of 1123 N. Utica Ave., a native Tulsan and formerly a resident of Claremore, was found dead at her home Sunday morning by members of the family. (her children) An autopsy was conducted which indicated death was caused by intestinal hemorrhage. Mrs. GREENLEE had suffered from polio in childhood and was hospitalized for an illness last month. She had returned here from Claremore 7 months ago. Members of the family told investigating officer Ed UNDERHILL they found Mrs. GREENLEE partially clad (he tried to rape her) in her bed when they arose. She is survived by the husband, Thomas M. GREENLEE; a son, Tommy Jr., and a daughter Gloria (my mother), both of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. (Charles Lewis AKA Charley) GREEN, Claremore; four sisters Mrs. Roxie BRIMAGE (husband Gene), Bakersfield, Calif. and Mrs. Betty SIMPSON, Mrs. Reda (could be Rita) Mae PROIETTI (husband Lindo), and Mrs. Aslee JAMES, (Aslee James died in FL, I have no idea what her first name is) all of San Bernadino, Calif.; four brothers, Wallace GREEN of Tulsa, and L. E. (Leard) GREEN, H. (Hubert) D. GREEN and Dillard GREEN, all of San Bernadino. Arrangements are pending with the Tulsa-Whisenhunt funeral home. NOTE: Eugenia Evelyn Debra GREEN GREENLEE was born in Stidham, Oklahoma September 17, 1920 and died December 15, 1957, she is my maternal grandmother. Years later my mother told us that her father beat her up when he came home drunk that night and left her there to bleed to death. They were too scared to tell the police. Leard was supposedly a criminal type and was always in trouble, he ran with a bunch of "road gangs" in Southern California. Most of these people are probably dead, including my mother and I got this information from my mom's second husband. I am sure they are not all bad people. I would like to make a connection with someone. That's about everything I know about these people in a nutshell.

Adelia Green: According to her death certificate, she died May 25, 1891 age 42 (birth about 1849). Place of birth is listed as Bergen County, NJ. Married my great grandfather, Charles Vincent Helms, in Monroe Works (Monroe), Orange County, NY, April 14, 1864. Adelia moved with my great grandfather to Carbondale, Pennsylvania some time after they were married. Several of their children were born in NY, so they must have remained in NY State for a time after they were married. Would like to have Adelia's parents' names.
