Hello: Is anyone working on a Green family from the above area? Samuel GREEN and Mary Jane Saltern I believe were living in Seymour Twp. in the 1880's. I'm just beginning with this family and know very little. There seemed to be Greens also in Tynendinaga Twp. Thanks, Bonnie

Would anyone have a Sarah Green b. 3 Oct 1843, d. 11 Nov 1892 Putnam Co Ohio. Sarah married Joseph Vining 25 March 1862 Franklin Co Ohio. They were living in Franklin Co in 1870, have not found them in 1880 census, were in Putnam Co, Ohio in 1890, 1900, 1910. Joseph married Josephine Hoon in Putnam Co, Ohio after Sarah's death. However, I think it very important that we all understand that searching for your family on the internet is a very inefficient method. True, some census data is available, but certainly not all of it. This is also true of land records, ship passenger lists, etc. Once in a while you can make a contact with someone who has valuable information, but we must understand that this happens very rarely. My suggestion to those who are just getting started is to find out where your closest National Archives is located and visit there as often as possible. Not only will you find all census records, but military records, land records, ship passenger lists, etc. Also geneological sections in local libraries have county histories and other data which can be extremely helpful. Then possibly, the internet can supplement what information you already have. But please, don't expect this site, or others, to give you a lot of information, unless you include enough information to delineate your relative from a person of the same name. ,
Ok, if we don't know the location of a person, say Noah Green, but we know that one of his kids was born in say Osceloosa Twp, Iowa in 1852, we should put that in our request. (I mean atleast list a date or place of a child or grandchild that connects to your missing root.) Listing who you can't find is a good idea, but it would be much easier for someone to help you if you list the name of thier children and a birth year (or location) for atleast one child--if you don't know a birth year for even one child, then maybe list the person you are looking for, his/her children, and a couple grandchildren with a birth place or date. That way someone may be able to give you some help because thier Greens were in that area/town at the same time the grandchild was born. Good luck in your search Stacy (3rd great grandchild of Noah and Permelia/Parmelia/Parmely {Dukes}. And looking for more information on Noah. I know he was born in Kentucky [maybe in the town of Franklin], USA. He was in Hamilton County, Illinois on Aug. 18, 1840 when he married his wife, Permelia Dukes. They had 9 children: Nancy, William Riley{b. Illinios}, John Wesley {b. 1848 in Mahaska Co, Iowa} , Perry Commodore, Emma{b. Richland Twp, Decatur county, Iowa} , Henrietta, Lousis Asbery, George Melvin, and Sylvester {b. abt 1869, d. 1870 in Grand River, Iowa}. Noah was in the Civil War where he died on July 13, 1863. The family ended up in Decatur county, Iowa, where Permelia passed away on Oct. 1909. Several of Perry's grandchildren are still living in Decatur county, Iowa--Perry married Hannah Jane Martin. I don't have anything but a birth and death date on her.-I would like to know who her parents were. She was born Aug 13, 1855 and died Oct 20, 1930, and is buried beside her husband Perry in the Elk cemetery in Decatur county, Iowa.) ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, July 26, 2002 9:56 AM Subject: Re: [GREEN] SOME OF US ARE BEGINERS, > I think many of you are missing the point. I have been trying for the longest time to find the parents/family of my Lewis Green,Sr,and up until recently all my info (and most of my database!) had this family as his and their son William as being William Lewis Green, but now I've found what looks like my Lewis' family and if anybody can help me verify this I'd really be grateful! I've fornd a Lewis Green born 1660 (my Lewis was born 1724) in Prince Edward Co,Va married to Susannah Griggs with a list of children ,one being named Lewis who married a Frances Gilliam who by info that I'm coming across looks like the father of Lewis Green who married Elizabeth Lauderdale and these are my 6th great grandparents.Does anyone have info on this line? Theres also a Burwell Green tied in due to Susannahs mothers maiden name being Burwell. Billie C.
Robert R. Green was born at Kettle Creek, Cumberland County, Kentucky, not Otter Creek! My mistake. Sorry! Joni Vella _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
