This "out of line" retoric has not bothered me in the least, and I too, belong to many genealogy related lists. Sometimes, people, we have to bend the basic structure of something because the times demand it. The need to discuss, share and feel that others are listening, can not be limited to a specific forum, with the title BOLDLY printed in the topic line. For many, the need is better fullfilled within a forum that one feels the most comfortable with. The judgementalism of those who do not care to "listen" or to even just sit and patiently put up with hearing the fears and concerns of others really bothers me. For many of these lists, the topic of ONLY genealogy will eventually return if we are all patient and show some compassion. Besides..........this is genealogy in the making. Laurie James
sounds like a good idea :) its a shame in this great country we are stooped to having to e-mail in code so as not to offend our non American listers. Freedom is what we are about to go to war to defend, isnt it? I'm strongly considering leaving this list. Billie C.
Listers: It is my understanding that MyFamily.com (RootsWeb.com and Ancestry.com) has created a special Message Board to handle such messages about the attach on WTC and on the Pentagon. The URL for the board is http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=usa-tragedy.mourning Violet Moore Guy 09/22/2001 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Betty Polombo" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 22, 2001 12:22 PM Subject: RE: [GREEN-L] A sugestion? > Great Idea, Stacy. Really? It has been obvious to many that only the lists trhat are for countries other than America are the only lists asking (some insisting!) that the list not include mail regarding what is going on here. 3 other lists that I subscribe to that are regarding surnames in other countries have asked members to not discuss the attack. Its a shame, but does go to show the differences in countries and freedoms. I am just about to give up on my GREEN but will try once more. . In Isle of Wight County VA, THOMAS GREEN, son of WILLIAM and MARY, died before 1727. His wife MARY later married PHILLIP MACODDIN ? He died a short time later MARY's three daughters had JOHN CLARK as their guardian. One was named MARY and could she be the wife of my THOMAS SPENCE? Please help me find them. . Luanne Spence Taylor

A close friend sent this to me and I thought thelist might like to read it. I think it says what we are all thinking right now. And although it just mentions America, it applies also to th UK, we have fought terrist on our shores for over 30 years now. Yet life still goes on. Many finance and insurance companies have offices both in London and NY and as you all know many Britains were killed in NY last week working at their desks as well. I do not know how much news is getting through from outside the States (we have very little here other than what is happening in NYand thing connected with it). We did have a 3 minute silence and a memorial service in St Paul's last Friday for the victims. At changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace they played the American anthem. There have been memorial services all over the country and books of rememberance have been opened in all places of worship. I am half American and belong to a list of other Anglo Americans and we have all felt for all of you Stateside, whether you are family, friends or just citizens. We have each other to talk to and share ou feels. Well said John. Right now the only genealogy I can concentrate on is what sort of world my grandson will grow up in. Debby
Showng your feelings is fine, but PLEASE quit forwarding messages regarding things like company policies which we have no way of verifiying the truth of. That is no different than forwarding other types of messages such as virus hoaxes and other scares. Forwarding items such as these only stirs up the waters and creates more trouble.
