Howdy GREEN Cousins, I have not been able to connect with anyone on the GREEN list since I started about 3-4 years ago. I have submitted my information referencing two early American families, GREEN(E) and WOODSON. I thought maybe I would attempt a new strategy, instead of searching for ancestors, I will attempt at seeking information for the descendants of. Does anyone out there have the descendants of General Nathaniel GREEN(E) ?(please excuse the spelling) I am seeking the ancestors of James W. GREEN, for which WOODSON cousins have indicated this would be one of his prominant ancestors. I love and pray for all of you cousins. Keep up the faith. And God Bless America. Sincerely, Douglas Anderson La Porte, TX

I am with the many that want to unsubscribe, its time to heal and stop talking about it so much, its becoming to be your worst obsession. And a obsession is not healthy for your mental mind and well being. If all you want to do is talk about what has happened to our wonderful country I think its time for picking up the telephone and getting incontact with some support groups, as we all are aware of this is a genealogy list not a terr. support group. So can we resume genealogy and get on with the wonderful lives we have. As it was mentioned to me in a private e-mail, people are acting like they have won, I believe she is onto something there. So stop a moment and please take note on your actions, 10 are they healthy 20 what can I do to help me heal from the trauma 3) seek assistance in it. Post traumatic stress syndrome can be managed I know this for a fact, I takes talking to the right people and none of us are educated enough to help in the way help is needed. That is how I have gotten to the point I am in my healing process, I have been there. So do not get over it, but do seek help. LRG-W
Green-Listers: I read my daily E-Mails hoping to find a link, I don't want to lose people on this list who may someday have valuable information I need. Those people who would like to continue there conversations about the disaster could do so by simply E-mailing eachother directly apart from the list. If you don't remember a members E-mail address. Simply request it on the Green-List. Example: Green-List Member Kelly M., I would like to E-mail you directly please respond to my E-mail Address. Then we can presume it doesn't involve the Green-List Forum. Would This Help Everyone? Sincerely, Kelly Moquin (Green)
Please don't send a lot of e-mails condeming Bob. I understand how he feels. The next day my son said I just need to get away from this if only for an hour. It is so traumatic. We all need to have some time away. For me it's genealogy. I try to forget for awhile by reading the digest. So please understand. I am not leaving this surname list because anyother member. I am finding that no matter what you have people are either for or against something. That is our choice. We live in America where we have choices. I think some of us have forgotten what the DELETE KEY is for. I read what email I want to and I delete what I don't want to read. It is that simple. I have no opinion to express about any of the mail going acorss the board. We are all emotional and frustrated , we handle things differently. That is what makes all of us so great. I too am hunting for my families just as everyone else on the list is. I also know they will not be going any where in the next week or so. Life is too short to be bickering amongst ourselves. I love you all and hope you all find your past. G.Pahl A friend is a gift you give yourself.

Noah was a farmer in Decatur county, Iowa. He joined the military 24 Nov. 1862 (39th Iowa Vol. Infantry Company K. ) He was killed July 12, 1863 while on picket duty by a gun in the hand of a comrad who mistook him for the enemy. And I am happy to trade any and all information I have with my 'new' cousins out there. I have been told that Noah's parent's were Henry Green and Mary Unknown, and I have seen a census with a husband named Henry, and a wife named Mary that had the following children : 1William Riley Green b. 1804 d. Dec. 25, 1881 (m. Mary "Polly" White.) 2. Elizabeth Green 3. Nancy Green 4. Mary "Fanny" Green b. 1817 Green Co. Ky 5. Noah Green b. 1820 So, this could be his parents/sibblings. On two seperate census (10 years apart) for Noah and his children, I find his age to be off 2 years off, so I dont' have an exact birthdate. (I don't know if he told them the wrong age at one time, or what, but the children/wife match up with the location). And he is buried several states away from me, so I haven't had the chance to check it out. I do have a typed copy of the letter that Permelia recieved when she found out that Noah was killed on picket duty, if anyone connects, and is interested. I have had enough. I dont ever respond to these but I am sick of it. I use these lists to look for clues about my ancestors but all I have seen in the past 2 weeks on all of them have been the same old junk. Yes we suffered a tremendous blow, we have mourned, now get on with YOUR lives and lets get back to GENEOLOGY!!!!!! Or else I am getting off all these lists and I am sure I am not the only one. The exchange between these two is reason enough to keep the subject on genealogy and not on idealogy or personal statements of any kind. Emotions and patriotism are running high now and we all need to express them, but these surname list is not the place because the only thing all of us who subscribe to these lists agree upon is tracing genealogy, so please lets all stick to that so there will be no more opinions or ragging on each other. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Green" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, September 26, 2001 10:59 PM Subject: Re: [GREEN-L] Stuff it Jim Green > Whoever you are GrandyFos, I was not trying to speak for anyone but > myself. Jim, I think you took our letters incorrectly. I suppose I shouldn't presume to speak for Laura, but I know that you took my letter, at least, incorrectly. When Laura wrote, "disagreement does not call for nastiness, and may I ask that anyone who feels the need to discharge his or her anger and frustration to just unsubscribe to the list", I felt that she was referring to the person who wrote "Stuff it". My response was written in defense of yours. I'm probably just making things worse here, but as the daughter of a WWII soldier, the sister of a retired AF Major, and the wife of a Viet Nam veteran, and retired AF major, I would caution everyone that we are ALL Americans. Not all of us may have fought in a battle, but that doesn't make us any less Americans. We, the rest of us, owe those of you who have been on the front lines, a debt we can never repay. But if you didn't engage in those battles to ensure the equality of ALL of us, then why did you do it? And that's my opinion, like it or not. And now, as has been suggested so many times, can we PLEASE get back to doing some Genealogy? I rarely respond to anything on this list or any other list, however, I cannot refrain. I only have one thing to say. Shame on those of you who are throwing barbs. Hi All, The Green family motto (at least for the descendants of Sir Thomas Greene of Buckton) is "Virtus Semper Viridis," which translates to "Virtue (or Excellence,) Always Green." Can we not now live by that by showing a little patience, tolerance and understanding to each other? We Greens always seem to be able to work through our difficulties. I'm sure that we all lost distant relatives in this disaster. We hurt, we grieve and we want to express our feelings. We've perservered before. Shouldn't we all take a deep breath and do it this time? BTW - anyone come up with anything new on Gideon Green(e) of Anson Co., NC from 1776 to abt. 1796? Thanks, Bill
Well folks, this constant bickering has finally led me to unsubscribe to this list. Green is only a collatoral line for me, and I was hoping that one day I might find a glimmer of a trail to my Green group. However, I'll just have to browse the archives occasionally. Just food for thought: When you want petty arguing to cease, begin with YOURSELF. I am the youngest and only girl in my family and was constantly teased by an older brother. My mother used to tell me to ignore it and he would stop. The more reaction he received, the more he teased. I had to grow up and develop MATURITY before I understood that and put it into practice. And you know what? He stopped when I stopped fueling the fire. I have not been bothered by those expressions of shock, grief, compassion and fear that have been placed on any list. I, too, subscribe to many and I have to say that this is the only list that has taken up such hostile bantering over it. Most of the lists have remained fairly quiet with a few comments and are now getting back to genealogy, without any of this ugliness. My best to all of you and....... MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA and may America accept the blessings with thanksgiving to Almighty God. Nancy
Listers: It is my understanding that MyFamily.com (RootsWeb.com and Ancestry.com) has created a special Message Board to handle such messages about the attach on WTC and on the Pentagon. Please try it! Other Rootsweb mailing lists have had similar problems with non-genealogical discussions, since the terror attachs on WTC & on the Pentagon. Keep busy with other things in LIFE. I have been through this before. I was a freshman in premed at the University of Oregon, in my home state, on Pearl Harbor Day, 1941. We had black-outs way into Eastern Oregon, where my family lived. 'nough! The URL for the board is http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=usa-tragedy.mourning Violet Moore Guy 09/27/2001 ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2001 12:07 AM Subject: [GREEN-L] Non genealogy > My family always had a policy of not talking about politics or religion. Looking for ANY information, any connections for Dr./Rev. John A. Green, found in Macon Co., AL, 1850 & 1860. Possibly in Russell Co., in 1840. Would like to know spouse, kids, parents & sibs., if known, and place of birth...anything else. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Annette
