My great grandfather Nicholas GREEN came from Germany.Where he was born in October 1851/1852. The only clue I have to his place of birth is a statement that a very old cousin made about the north western part of Germany and that he was naturalized at a young age, ( I do not know where). His father's name was Nicoli and his mother's was Maria. He was a Roman Catholic and left Germany for religious reasons. He married Catherine ROCKER at St. Pius Roman Catholic church in Cohocton, Steuben County, NY on Feb. 6, 1871. She was 14 years old and married so young because her father died in the civil war, her mother had quite a few other children to provide for. He was very poor all his life and only did farm labor. The 1810 Wilkes County, North Carolina, census returns show a Mary Green, age 26-45, living in the Buffalo Cove section (present-day Caldwell County) with one male, age 16-26. Her neighbors include: Peter Riggins, William Riggins, James Murphy, Richard Lewis, Jonathan Allen, Silas Murphey, Thomas Day, John Paisley, William Cottrell, Samuel Curtis, Hugh Nelson, and William Vanderpool. This unidentified person must either be a widow or a single woman with one child. If she is connected with the Jeremiah Green family, no connection has been found. The possibility of any relationship would be if she is the widow of one of the unidentified sons of Jeremiah and Mary (Wiseman) Green, but there is o evidence to indicate such an assumption. She might be connected with the Thomas Green family who lived on Hibriten Mountain in Burke County (present-day Caldwell County), NC, based on the fact that one of her neighbors is John Paisley who also lived in the same area prior to moving to Buffalo Cove. This is also an unproven assumption. There is no known connection between the Thomas Green family who lived on Hibriten Mountain of Burke County, NC, and the Jeremiah Green family of Rowan County, NC. Any ideas, anyone?

Wife was possibly Agnes LNU who is supposed to be buried next to Thomas, but there is no marker, only a lull in the ground. Thomas' children lived from VA to NC to TN to GA. My line is Thomas, his son Elisha who married Nancy Lillard, their son William Newton who married Loucinda Dunn, their daughter Mary who married Sherman Alford Bishop, their daughter Lizzie Mae who married Walter Felix Arthur, their daughter Velma Marie who married George William Lipps. S Looking for any info on HENRY GREEN and WINIFRED THOMPSON who were mar. in Frederick Co., MD in 1815. e AND searching for any information on their son, SAMUEL GREEN. He was born in Indiana and lived there for years, maybe all of his life. Lived in Martin County for some time. He married ELIZABETH PICKLER and had the following children: LYDIA CAROLINE b 9/22/1845, and married William Niblick; JOHN; WILLIAM; JESSE; JOSEPH LUTHUR b June 2, 1851-52 and married Syntha Welborn; ELIZABETH who married John Losey; and one more child, name unk. All of the children were born in Indiana. When Samuel Green's wife Elizabeth died, he remarried (name unknown). His oldest daughter Lydia Caroline Greeen moved out and took all of the younger children with her. She ended up settling in Indian Territory (now Oklahoma).
