For those who are looking for connections with the Greens: >From "Colonial Families of the Southern States of America" by Stella Pickett Hardy, the section on the Burwell family lists a Lewis Green b. Dec. 14, 1779, m. Sally Green, dau. of Col. Armistead Green of Amelia Co., Va. and had issue. Our Greens were in Amelia County -- Abraham Green was son of Seagull and he settled in Amelia County. His son, William Wills, was probably born there but settled in Mecklenburg County and owned property there (referenced in his will). William's brother Abraham m. Martha Armistead. I do not see a Col.Armistead Green in our line. I believe that I sent Bill Caddell some information on the Burwells from the book referenced above. Just for info. Catharine

The book is by Louise Clarke, based on the work of George Sears Greene, a descendant of the John the Surgeon Greene line of RI. A man named John Jahnke has kindly entered most of this book into a gedcom, downloadable for AOL members in their genealogy section. Recently a Green lister was kind enough to respond to my postings regarding the question of whether Christopher Green of Fiskill, Dutchess County, New York, who appears in a 1732 baptism at Fishkill Dutch Reformed Church with "Elizabeth van Denmark", or in another version of these Fishkill records, "Elizabeth DerMark" as the child's mother, was the same man as Christopher Greene of Rhode Island,frequently shown with wife "Elizabeth Denmark". This lister quoted several passages to the effect that a Greene author by the name of SEARS, who published a book in 1903, was of the opinion that Christopher Greene indeed married a woman by the name of Elizabeth Denmark, but died without issue, based on the fact that, while Christopher was the eldest of his wealthy father's issue, the next son in line, Daniel, inherited, and that in the 1757 will of Job Greene, Christopher's father, a silver cup that "had belonged to Christopher" was left to somebody else. Thomas Green, his parents were Thomas and Cynthia Green. He was born in Decatur County, Georgia. The below is the census enumeration from 1850 Decatur County, Georgia. 16 544 544 Green Thomas 35 M Laborer GA 17 544 544 Green Cynthia 30 F GA 18 544 544 Green Thomas 3 M (born 2/6/1847) GA Junior for designation 19 544 544 Green Wm. 1 M GA Thomas Junior enlisted in the Confederacy in Gadsden County Florida, and was mustered out at Columbus, Suwannee County, Florida. He married Sarah Elizabeth Adams July 28, 1870 in Hamilton County, Florida. I hope this rings bell with someone. This is one of the remaining stonewalls for my family research. Darrel Bell

While some of you have a long list, mine is a short as it can get. I research the Kellar line and have a Jacob Brougher Kellar that married Lucinda Green in Jennings Co., IN on November 21, 1839. From the 1850 Jennings Co., Sand Creek Twp. census we find that Lucinda is listed as being born about 1822 in North Carolinia. To the union of Jacob and Lucinda were born 9 known children: Adam (which was the name of Jacob's father) James W., Nancy A., Zachariah Taylor Kellar, Aaron Green Kellar (there is a Aaron Green living in Jennings Co., In in 1850 born about 1820 in NC with a Phebe Green in his house hold born 1797 in NC. Also several McKinney family members are living with this Aaron Green), William Kellar, Austin B. Kellar, Mary L. Kellar, Effie Jerula Kellar. About 1860 Jacob and Lucinda move to Illinois, then to Labette, Kansas and then into Jasper Co., MO. Jacob B. Kellar dies there on April 21, 1882. I lost track of Lucinda at this point, believe she may have moved back into Kansas or into Arkansas. If anyone knows which Green family Lucinda connects to, would appreciate any help. I believe the Green and Kellar family had a prior family connection before the marriage of Jacob and Lucinda.

I am a descendant of Isaac Green and Sarah Henry. I am not sure who are the parents of Isaac Green. Isaac was born May 27, 1822 in Haywood County, North Carolina - he died 1907 and is buried at the Church of Christ Cemetery in Ravens Branch, Cocke County, Tennessee. He and his wife Sarah had 12 children and he is rumored to be the father of children by other women (some are proven). Bill, I was in contact with you a good while back but couldn't make a connection with your Burrell and Lewis that married Caddell sisters. Recently I was told that Lewis married prior to marrying Elizabeth Caddell. I am trying to tie back to this Lewis. My Lewis was b. 1801 or around that time. It is said he was from NC, SC or GA. Not much help. The first real information I have is in Ware Co., GA where he married Martha Elizabeth Taylor, dau. of Hezekiah, son of Henry, RS. He adopted sons, of his brother, Leander and William T. and had 13 children of his own. It is said he married Elizabeth Pridgen in 1825 in Bulloch Co., GA. I can find no death certificate for Elizabeth or children or anything in Bulloch only a record of a marriage. There is an Eilsha, John and William in Bulloch along w/ Lewis in the same 1825 time frame. Lewis lived in Ware, Clinch and Lowndes Cos. , GA. before moving to Hamilton Co,, Fl. The mother of Leander and William T. is Delilah. I think the father of Daniel as she is mentioned in the 1850 census as widow of Daniel. Some one mention wanting to know about the Burrell that married Lewis Green in VA. I have the name and address Grigg line that I was in contact with at the time I thought I was in this family if anyone is interested. Selma

I have one source on Lewis Green line that has a Nathaniel as his brother. If anybody has the line info of Green,Griggs and Green/ Gilliam (both were "Lewis Greens" ) I'd love to know more. I've found family sites that have several Lewis' (Lewis I,Lewis II,Lewis III ,with Lewis Green,Sr who married Elizabeth Lauderdale referred to as Lewis IV) the info fits ex: several with this info have a Lewis marrying a Suzannah Griggs whos mother was a Burwell (hope thats right!) and Lewis ,Jr son of "my" Lewis named a son Burwell. Green (b. 1781 NJ) was in Clermont County, OH prior to moving west to Ripley County. I have found in the Ripley County original land purchases book a mention of a William Green "of Clermont County" who bought land in Ripley County in 1817. There is a William Green listed in the Clermont County Tax list of 1809 and 1810. Prior to this time period, I cannot find any more clues. Some researchers think that he may be of the line of Samuel Green of Sussex Co., NJ, but I've not made that connection yet. Others think that his wife Ann may be Ann Woods, whom he married in Middle Springs Presb. Church, Cumberland, PA 19 Dec. 1805. This would explain all the middle initial "W."s in the line, but this is not proven. I have a lot of information on the connecting "branches" to this line. In fact, the Hyatt, Grimes, and McDonald lines all run back to Am. Rev. war veterans. If anyone is interested or would like more information, I will look forward to hearing from you. Sue Green
