I'm interested in the Green's of Rutherford County. I am descended from a Rachel Catherine Green that was married in Rutherford County in February 1838, so I am guessing she was born in 1820 or earlier. I have not been able to locate her parents and do not know for certain if she was born in Rutherford. Do you have a Rachel in this line anywhere? Thanks, Terry __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make a great connection at Yahoo! Personals. http://personals.yahoo.com
Elias Green was born on July 18, 1781 in SC, possibly Laurens County. He married Susannah Elizabeth Hestilow about 1805 in SC. In the 1820's there is an Elias Green listed in Jackson Co. GA, is this the same Elias Green? Elias Green and Susannah Elizabeth Hestilow had the following children: 1) John H. Green, b. December 22, 1806. 2) Chaney Green, b. October 24, 1809. 3) Darkis Green, b. January 9, 1811. 4) David S. Green, b. May 21, 1813. 5) Mary Smith Green, b. March 25, 1815, d. 1879 in Webster Co. Ms. She married Ezekial Fletcher Gore in 1836 in Pickens Co. AL. (my line) 6) Isom Green, b. November 7, 1817. 7) Martha Green, b. February 23, 1820, m. John Ezell. 8) Elizabeth R. Green, b. June 2, 1822. 9) Felitha Vines Green, b. February 15, 1824. Would like to correspond with any descendants of Elias Green and Susannah Elizabeth Hestilow. Will be glad to share what family information that I have. Charlotte G. Boykin

Bill and other listmembers, I have been trying for several years to make a connection between this Joseph Green and my William Greene. They were both about the same age and were in the same area of Tryon/Rutherford County at the same time. Ironically, they both died fairly young about 1770. I received the family chart for Joseph and his wife, Mary McEntire several years ago from another Green-list member, Margaret Green of Waco, TX. I don't know if she is still on the list anymore or not. I will list both my line for William and that of Joseph below. If anyone would like more information, I also have the will for Joseph and will be glad to share any and all information that I have on these two Greens in western North Carolina. Hello Greens, I am looking for connections out there. I don't know where they originated from. I know most of my records came from the 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cumberland County, Carlisle PA. they migrated to Johnston County Iowa in the 1850's and out from there. Please look at the names and dates. His father was Jonathan Green born in the 1770's. I don't know the mother's name. But this is my entire Green line! Check it out. I think a more likely explanation is the illiterateacy and errors of the past. How many times have you, a "Greene", had to tell someone that there is an "E" on the end of your name. Poorly educated census takers and tax list preparers would, more than likely, spell the name "Green" rather than "Greene". I believe that a lot of the explanations offered are merely family lore handed down through the generations. In my family research, I have found both version of the name, sometimes in the same family generation. Any Green "cousins" have an idea where my Green's in Cumberland County, Carlisle PA may have originated. The farthest I can trace is Jonathan Green born in the 1770's. His son David Green Sr born 1796 was christened in the 1st Evangelical Lutheran Church there in Carlisle. This leads me to believe maybe they were German. What do you all think? David Green Jr married Rachel Peffer and they all migrated to Iowa together in the 1850's. Any idea's?
