Pressing my nose to the screen(!), I reckon that the badge in the first one depicts a grenade with a scroll below, and may well be that of the Lancashire Fusiliers, with the scroll partly hidden by the leather chinstrap - see the photo at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110045309959 In the second photo, the badge is probably a flaming grenade, and in view of what you say about your relatives, could easily be that of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers - see http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180039485434 However other Fusilier regiments also wore this design of badge - see for example the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, Royal Munster Fusilier, and Northumberland Fusiliers. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230037631657 and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180034916163 The badge in third photo could well be that of the Royal Engineers, but I'd like to see a larger version before committing myself further.
