The Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) was the Royal Navy's equivalent of the Army's Royal Flying Corps (RFC). The RNAS and RFC were amalgamated on 1 Apr 1918 to form the Royal Air Force. The National Archives has a leaflet about RNAS, RFC and RAF Service Records at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=60 AMIC would probably be Air Mechanic 1st Class. For example, see W H P Kerman of the RNAS who died in 1916 at http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=2905445 Forrest -- Forrest Anderson, Edinburgh, Scotland.
