Brothers Charles William Whittemore - 7 Bedfordshire, later 4 Bedfordshire Died 27 Aug 1918 Frederick Arthur Whittemore MM and Bar - 7 Royal Sussex Died 26 Aug 1918 Frank Henry Oakley - 235099 Private 9 Suffolk Died 19 Jan 1918 buried at BEAUMETZ CROSS ROADS CEMETERY, BEAUMETZ-LES-CAMBRAI Wilfred Fisher Private G/12611. 8th Bn., The Buffs (East Kent Regiment). Killed in action Thursday 14 June 1917. Age 23. Commemorated on YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL, Ieper, Belgium. Panel 12 and 14 Arthur L Willingham 30685 Lance Corporal 4th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment died 30 October 1917. Remembered on Tyne Cot Memorial in the Ypres Salient Joseph French Private 14223, 1st Bn., Bedfordshire Regiment who died age 27 on 04 September 1916 Remembered with honour on the THIEPVAL MEMORIAL Alfred Thomas Brookman 8 Somerset Light Infantry died 2 July 1916 Peter Darrington Private 20317, "D" Company, 7th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Killed in action 1st July 1916 in France & Flanders. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 2 C. Mentioned in the National Roll of the Great War, Bedford/Northampton, page 66. Edward Nicholson Wounded but survived WW1 And those who served Daniel Little - 15 DLI Harry Whittemore Joined Royal Marines about 1910 served as Gunner on HMS New Zealand Nelson and Warspite including the Battle of Jutland, with Warspite demobbed 1931 but called up from the Reserve for WWII Served as Anti-Aircraft Gunner on Merchant Ships in Convoys. William Eli Howell - 2/6 Glosters Henry Howell - 1st Glosters John Moffat Telford - MGC Robert Cecil Telford - RFC World War 2 Cyril William Watts 57 Sqn RAFVR died 2 March 1945 James Norman Dickinson Royal Artillery died 21 Jan 1942 El Alamein Gordon Morgan Palestine Police died 12 Jan 1947 buried at Haifa Gladys May Little worked making Churchill Tanks in Luton and all the other women who worked so hard during the war.     3. Lest we Forget on remembrance day all the brave souls who gave so much. My great great uncle Private William Henry Short V.C. 12067 who gave his life on the Somme so that others may live. Buried in Contalmaison Chateau Cemetery. A genuine hero like so many. My great uncle Charles Simmons AB Stoker P/KX 153796 who lost his life just a month before the end of the Second war when mtb 494 was sunk with the loss of 13 lives and is listed on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial. My grandparents William and Mary Stone who both served in the RAF throughout the whole of World War 2 and are now sadly no longer with us but together in Heavan. To great grandfather Pte Arthur Stone SE-4531 who survived the whole of World War 1 only to be killed in a tragic accident just 5 years after leaving the army. To great uncles Bert and Arthur who both served throughout the Second war. To my wifes Grandad Fred Perks who was evacuated from Dunkirk before getting malaria in Burma. He survived the war and lived into his seventies. To my wifes great uncle pte Thomas Hay of the East Surry Regt who died on the 03/07/1942 aged just 21 and is buried in Nice.     3. Harry BAGG, Private, 5th Bn., Dorsetshire Regiment, died Gallipoli August 1915, age 20, son of Charles and Alice Bagg, Winfrith, Dorset. My husband's grandmothers brother. We have a postcard written by him to his mother in July of the same year saying he will see her soon........

    3. Great Uncle Charlie Private CHARLES MYATT 200180 of the Kings' Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Wounded in Warfare (Gunshot wound to head) and died on 1 December 1918 at the Tooting Military Hospital, England of injuries received. He had been transferred from the B.E.F. France Son of Joseph Myatt and Annie Myatt (nee Milburn) of Yorkshire. Husband of Annie, father of Lionel. Lest We Forget. Sue in Australia

Thank you, to the person who began this as a form of tribute on this Veterans' Day, 2006 ~ My grandfather and father both served and survived World War I and World War II - however, they paid dearly - both, emotionally and in their health - war changes people, as we all know. My thoughts today are upon all those who served; and my own special thanks go to my dad and grandfather, I am so proud of all that they did, Linda C. Schmidt, Daughter of: 1st Lt. Robert Philip Conpenelis, of Buffalo NY; AAF, WWII; First Pilot of Cargo Plane, 39th Troop Carrier Sq.; flew over 479 combat hours; Flight Commander. Air Medal with 3 clusters, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 4 stars, Presientail Unit Citation, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 star. Died, July 7, 1984. ~ son of: Sgt. Philip Conpenelis[Koupenelis], of Buffalo NY; served in 106th F.A., U.S. Army, WWI. Awarded for St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne, and Defensive Sector. Died July 27, 1923.

    3. Please remember my Grandfather Thomas Alfred Bennett , Royal West Kent Regt. died on duty at Jubalpore, India, July 28th 1917 and his brother George killed at Warlencourt Berque, Somme, November 15th 1916. They will never be forgotten
