In my own family history researches I have come across phrases like "Army Pensioner" on birth, baptism and census entries (all my examples are from the 1800s) and in each case it has turned out to be a statement that the individual was an out-pensioner of the Royal Chelsea Hospital. You may be looking in the wrong place if you are looking in the WW1 pensions database. It's so long since I did that research that I cannot remember how to set about finding out more. I'm sure that a search in both Google and the UK National Archives website (www.nationalarchives.gov.uk) will produce some fresh leads for you to follow up. Kindest regards, Peter Appleton
