Peter and Paul, Thank you both for your support in your emails concerning the hysterical response from Tullock-Marshall about the contents of an email I sent in about Military Cross Winners. Actually I only sent in my comments because I was annoyed at the way that Tullock-Marshall ' s sneeringly put down the individual who first started this thread about the way he worded his posting. I quote from Tullock- Marshall 's email. "..................... I had originally concluded that it had a) - been posted by somebody whose knowledge of things military was so woefully lacking that they really had no concern to be posting on GW-L (discuss), or b) - it was a thinly veiled insult directed at British Services Personnel past / present / future - alive or deceased. I had settled on ignorance rather than insult and therefore answered in what I believed to be an appropriate manner. " His comments were in my opinion so arrogant and way out of order that I was stung into responding. I seem to have hit a raw nerve. I have noticed before that Tullock-Marshall likes to posture as a self appointed judge of what he thinks is the proper usage of the King 's English. I think that he sees himself as some sort of intellectual. Sadly, he manifestly, ain 't. He does indeed have some knowledge about WW1 military matters which is of use to members of the mailing list but he 's not, by a long chalk, in the same class as the late Iain Kerr. Iain was indeed an officer and a gentleman and his knowledge and maturity are sadly missed. Tullock- Marshall 's latest outburst, I would think would make some people who were thinking of using him to do some WW1 military research for them think twice. I have considered that he may be unwell and so I have declined to get stuck into him as he deserves me to. Instead, I hope that he makes a speedy recovery. And Paul , thanks for mentioning, Pte. G.S Holland. DCM and your great uncle, Pte. E.G Vaux. MM, who as you say are comrades and are buried a few yards apart at Heilly Station, Somme. Lest We Forget. Regards. Patrick Holland. Perth Western Australia.
