Hi Folks, I have been researching the military service of my grandfather (200207 Lance Corporal Fred APPLETON, 4th Yorkshire Regiment) for a couple of years now. Through some friends at my local Photographic Society, I have been asked to talk to Year 9 pupils at Huntcliff School, Saltburn and put a more personal and local slant on their studies of World War 1. The History teacher has got the kids to compile a list of questions, most of which I can answer. But one in particular has me stumped. How often would my grandfather have been given leave? I have no idea how much leave a soldier got. Can anyone offer me any advice, please? regards, Peter Appleton Researching the following surnames: Yorkshire (North Riding): APPLETON, BOWERS, COCKERILL, EVANS, FAWCETT, LEGG/LEGGE, MASON Norfolk: BOWERS, BRUNDLE, CALVER/CARVER, MULLENGER/MULLINGER, WOODS Cornwall: ANNEAR Lincolnshire: HOWSAM Suffolk: MATTHEWS Westmorland: MASON My Family Tree website: http://www.tribalpages.com/tribes/pappleton3
