There are any number of good books on the AEF which include material on training in France, which is where most real training took place. Information on occupation duty is harder to find. See for example The AEF and Coalition Warmaking, 1917-1918, David Trask (Kansas 1993) and Pershing and his Generals: Command and Staff in the AEF, James J. Cooke, Greenwood 1997). There are also any number of histories of the US Marine Brigade of the Second Division and its heroics at Belleau Wood. See Len's Bookshelf (_www.wfa-usa.org_ (http://www.wfa-usa.org) ) for the newest entry in this group of histories. Look under RESOURCES. There are several unit histories of the Second Division of the AEF. One is available from The Digital Book Shelf (_www.thedigitalbookshelf.us_ (http://www.thedigitalbookshelf.us) ); others will appear in a Google or other search.
