    3. Chris I can add a little to his Labour Corps service. His number of 117718 indicates that he was one of the early members of the Corps and served, initially at least in 197 Company. I say initially as it was quite common for LC men to be moved to other companies. 197 was formed from Permanent Base men already serving in France so I think you can assume he was in this category - that is men who were medically unfit for front line service. 197 did not keep their own War Diary and there is little information about where they served. In January 1918 they were at Abancourt and in October 1918 they moved to Poperinghe. However there is very little on their duties - they were used to work on the roads and a few men were attached to the Central Purchasing Board in August 1917. Ivor
