    3. I realize that my enquiry is a little outside the normal remit of this list but I'm hoping someone might know the answer to my question. I'm researching the men whose names are inscribed on the War Memorial in my village. I have discovered that one of them, Wright FREEMAN, was censused in 1891 in the Barracks in Lincoln as a "Private, Infantry". I was wondering if anyone can tell me what unit would have been stationed there in 1891. He is proving to be an interesting character: He served in WW1 as 8234 Lance Corporal Wright FREEMAN in the 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment and died of wounds on 10 August 1915 at Gallipoli. He is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. In the 1901 census he was an inmate of Dorchester Prison, in Dorset. I haven't yet tried to find out how come he ended up in there! regards, Peter Appleton Researching the men whose names are inscribed on the Skelton-in-Cleveland War Memorial
