    3. Barry - SDITGW adds that Francis Grundy was Kia, and born & enlisted at Farnworth, Lancashire. He was killed during attacks on the village of Ovillers, where little progress had been made since the beginning of the battle on July 1st 1916. On the 10th of July the 8th LN Lancs (supported by 3rd Worcesters) were trying to flank round northwards from the Albert - Bapaume road to the rear (south-east) of the village, but were repeatedly counter-attacked and driven back. SDITGW records 73 fatalities in 8th Bn on this date. regards - Tom Tulloch-Marshall WW1 Military Research website - http://www.btinternet.com/~prosearch/index.html ----- Original Message ----- From: Barry To: Great War List Sent: Sunday, July 22, 2007 1:19 PM Subject: [GREATWAR] Request for SDITGW look up Greetings to all, I'm presently researching some of my ancestors who served in the British army during WW1. One, who was killed during the war Was Francis Grundy. I've looked him up on CWGC, and am wondering if someone who has the SDITGW would mind looking him up for me. CWGC has the following info: GRUNDY, FRANCIS Rank: Private Regiment/Service: The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment Unit Text: 8th Bn. Date of Death: 10/07/1916 Service No: 18012 Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: Pier and Face 11 A. Memorial: THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. Any additional information would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Barry Murray. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to GREATWAR-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
