I have been mod for several lists over yrs which means probably no more Smothers, Smeathers, Smathers, Smithers, etc lists, boo hoo. No idea why this happened either, no explanation is really given. The posts will be archived that have been done to go search them but unable to post at all. I am hoping to keep our Smothers-dna at a site called groups.io however, I just see no way to do this for all the other sites at all. WE will just need to use the message boards to post queries or write to each other personally. I noticed couple mail lists I was on already transition to this groups, seems to be working for them. I have received invites, so if you happen to be on a list & receive such an invite, this is why you get that invite from them, trying to keep the list going for folks by using this groups site. Check it out before you hit 'delete'. btw-anyone on cuz Sandi Gorin's wonderful KY lists she has will also be gone too. I have no idea what she intends to do, she had a number of them, 'tips, bio's, research' to name a few, it is a real shame for sure. Whoever admin's it has to send out a join request to the prior members, imagine how time consuming that will be as some lists have many subbers. There might be another way to do this too, if can get it done before the cut off date...... get it set up, then send out the link on this list of the site, then members go there and just join up themselves, so I was told. Now, you'll be able to easily filter out matches that aren't genealogically relevant to you. Also, as part of this release we are permanently reducing the price of Big Y to $595. How it Works The filter lists the subclades immediately upstream from the tester's terminal subclade. When a subclade has been selected, a number appears next to the unselected subclades to indicate how far upstream or downstream they are from the selected subclade. A subclade marked (+1) is the next clade upstream from the currently selected clade. A subcladed marked (-1) is the next clade downstream from the currently selected clade. The number of matches available at each level is listed on the right side of the filter drop down. Implementing micro-alleles in the database or adding some simple rules that consider palindromic recombination events should be a minimum standard for an informative Y-STR database. In fact a significant increase of mistakes has been reported by customers during the last year that mainly involve micro-alleles, null alleles and palindromic Y-STR markers. This is where we need to take action now! DYS464 is the biggest hotspot of errors in Y-STR databases. It's time to clean out the DYS464 mistakes from your projects. DYS464 has normally 4 alleles, but sometimes there are 8 or up to 12 alleles at this palindromic marker. Frankly I have never even heard of this site but then I do not do Ancestry and hardly ever do even Rootsweb any more although it used to be my major source because I just could not justify the cost of Ancestry. I use Family History Library or I go to the state of W.Va. which is pretty good about sources and info online generally speaking. Wish all states were this forth coming with info such as deaths marriages and births. Oh its not perfect but beats most of them. I would not know where to tell you to put the info. Maybe what about Roots Magic My neighbor recommends it but I have not used it myself so don’t know how good or how easy it is to manipulate. Hope these comments help a bit. We have received some incredibly positive feedback and this is much appreciated. > We are also hearing the frustrations from those who have not yet received their results, and we would like to address the matter publicly in the form of a sincere apology. The entire FTDNA team has been working very hard over the last few months with high determination and many late nights. Launching a new product is always a challenge with many moving parts, some more predictable than others. Unfortunately we ran into some surprises beyond our control when one of our suppliers ran out of certain reagents we needed for running the Big Y product. However we recognize that it is our responsibility and duty to meet our deadlines and keep our customers informed when problems arise. With the Big Y launch, we failed to properly manage the expectations of our customers. This was an honest oversight, in which we internally had a target to release first results in February, but we didn’t pay close attention to the dates being communicated on the status pages for those orders. Big Y was a new product and the status entries were updated automatically. We should have manually adjusted these dates earlier on as needed. So while we were thrilled to release the first results in February, we failed to realize that everyone expected results this week. I personally take responsibility for this miscommunication and mishap with the website delivery dates and hope you accept my sincere apologies. > I am well aware that as a company we have a bit of a history in missing deadlines. A big contributor to that is that we have typically been very ambitious in taking on difficult projects while still wanting to deliver information quickly to customers. The Big Y product is a great example. It was a cutting-edge project that pushed us deep into next-generation sequencing and advanced data analysis. Our ambitious, risk-taking attitude has won many of you over and delivered incredible thought leadership and leading products over the years. Unfortunately, our poor estimates and turnaround time expectations have frustrated many of you along the way as well.
