At some point, the father died and left about 8 kids. The mother and two of the younger children all were converted to Mormons on a British mission in 1851. They left Liverpool in January 1852 with a group of new converts and sailed to New Orleans. The mother died en route, and the daughter married the leader, a James Higbee, who was one of the main Mormon leaders. The other, older children also left England. My particular group went to Cincinnati, Ohio. They were there by the late 1840's. I have a WIlliam Grainger who married a Sarah Pailor or Paylor. Their son Charles Grainger was born about 1847 in Cincinnati, and married about 1877 to a Jennie or Gennie Rhinehart, who was born in Ohio but her parents were both from Germany. I'm hoping to go to the FHL this afternoon to look at census records. Martha
