I'm looking for a Benjamin Granger/Grainger, son of Benjamin Grainger/Granger b. 1826, most likely in the Dudley, West Bromwich, Handsworth, Staffordshire/Worcestershire area. Benjamin had one sister that I know of and probably more. Her name was Caroline, b. 1821 in Kates Hill, Dudley, Worcestershire. Her father's name was James. Benjamin had a son, also Benjamin born around the same time period as your John. I have a letter from Benjamin to his "Aunt, Daughter, Granddaughter, and Great Granddaughter." written on 6 Jan 1896 from Box 50, West Ausitntown, OH. (It was In Care Of D.T.James) The letter was in the posession of the descendants of Caroline Grainger, who married Joseph Hamblet in 1837. I am not sure who he is exactly writing to, but think it could be my gg grandmother, Sarah Maria Hamblet Davies Boyns Bates. Sheand her daughter, Mary Ada visited the US some time before 1906 and visited another cousin, The Reverand Marshall Owen in NewYork I believe. Does any of this sound familiar to you? If so please contact me off line at cam59@cableone.net. I hope to hear from you! Sincerely, Caroline Allen-Martin
