Grandmother Annie Grainger she was born about 1875 and her family were from Durham, she had a brother named Steve Grainger and there was an Auntie Tussie Grainger who lived in Bondi in the first half of the 1900's. I don't know when Annie came to Australia, but she married Frederick William Martin in Goulburn NSW in about 1895 and had four children, Selwyn, Errol, Cathleen and Foster (my grandfather). They lived in Gundegai where my gr. grandfather was manager of the bank. I was always told that Percy Grainger (the composer) was a cousin. I would love to find out more about this side of the family.
Hi Lezley & List, The Stephen GRAINGER & Sarah LIVINGSTONE shows up on the NSW Death Index as the father of 2 people: - 1. Eliza Anne SPANSWICK d. 1944 at Chatswood, NSW, Australia. Ref. # 23680. 2. Frederick George RABONE (I cannot understand the different surname) d. 1941 at Mosman, NSW, Australia. Ref. # 17840. There is also a Stephen F. GRAINGER who died 1905 at Woollahra, NSW, Australia. He was the son of Stephen J. & Blanche C. Ref. # 7331. There is not Stephen (or Steve) GRAINGER shown on the 1881 Census of Durham. It is possible he left England before 1881 or that he was born after the 1881 Census.
