Hi, My GRAINGER Line were also in Edinburgh but they were also in Cupar, Fife, Scotland and maybe (very likely) in Yorkshire, England. Now I see this came from the IGI Family Search and was an "Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record". Because the IGI shows "All children were born in Saint Cuthbert's, Edinburgh" I assume that this is a mistake and should be Christened in St Cuthbert's Parish Church, Lothian Road, Edinburgh http://www.st-cuthberts.net/. Now please do not think I am being "picky" - I only mention this to help you with your research. The IGI shows "your" Hugh GRAINGER and Agnes BROWN married 18 Apr 1824 in Saint Cuthbert's, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. There are 2 Hugh GRAINGER christened in the correct time frame that could be "your" Hugh GRAINGER (there maybe others that are not shown on the IGI): - 1. 26 Jul 1800 in Ratho, Midlothian, Scotland son of Hugh GRAINGER and Helen MARSHALL. 2. 16 Oct 1800 in Ratho, Midlothian, Scotland son of John GRAINGER and Agnes GRAINGER. I have two GRAINGER - MARSHALL marriages on my Tree. 1. Christina GRAINGER m. Alexander Boswell MARSHALL on 21 Jun 1883 in St George's Church, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. 2. Isabella GRAINGER m. Andrew MARSHALL on 25 Nov 1881 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. My 2 x Great Grandfather was John GRAINGER b. 1818 in Cupar, FIF, SCT and he married Isabella BOWIE on 22 Jan 1850 in St Cuthbert's Parish Church, Lothian Road, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. John and Isabella first daughter (2nd child) Mary Davidina Brown GRAINGER was b. 8 Jan 1852 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland (bp 18 Feb 1852 in St Bernards Church, West Claremont Street, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland). The Old Parochial Registers at the General Register Office for Scotland: - 18th February 1852 John GRAINGER Ship Porter residing at No. 1 Cumberland Street Lane and Isabella BOWIE his Spouse had a Daughter Born there on the Eight day of January last _ Named Mary Davidina Brown Baptized on the Sabbath Twenty Second February current in St Bernard's Church by the Rev. David BROWN, late minister of the Scottish Church in Liverpool. Page 583. It would seem that Mary was given the "Brown" Given Name after the Rev. David BROWN. I maybe wrong here and it maybe that the "Brown" came from a relationship to your Line. As we both have GRAINGER and MARSHALL connections I think that we may have a connection between you GRAINGER Line and my GRAINGER Line. Would you like to swap Files to see if we can find a match?
