    2. Because of the catastrophe that happened in the United States Tuesday, 11 Sept., 2001, MyFamily.com (RootsWeb.com and Ancestry.com) has created a special Message Board for those who wish to express or share condolences, sorrow, prayers, and thoughts for the victims, their families and friends. However, this is not a board for discussion of how the U.S. should resolve this issue or about how the search for those responsible is going. The URL for the board is: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=usa-tragedy.mourning

    2. Nicole: I saw your message to IoLani. I have given her what she needs to trace back to John Grainger, Sr. We are still filling in the blanks on the descendants of James Norton Grainger, her great grandfather. I descend from John, Sr. thru three of his children: Goldsberry, Elizabeth and John, Jr. Dolphus and James Colon descended from Samuel, son of Goldsberry. I knew James Colon and Little Dolph, as we called him, when we lived in that area in the late 1930's. I was born in Florence and graduated high school there. I talked to Marie several years ago and she furnished me a good bit of info. But, I'm still lacking some of the bits and pieces and I need to update what I have. If you would be so kind, let me know over e-mail of your connection; i.e. your parents, grandparents, siblings, and cousins. I'll be out of town all of next week, but I'll get any messages after that. Sincerely, Jennings Grainger, Atlanta, GA.

    1. [GRAINGER] GRAINGER in Ripon, Yorkshire
    2. Joseph & Linda Smith
    3. I am still trying to find any bit of information that will help me move on in my research. My great grandfather, William Henry GRAINGER was born 1862 Ripon, Yorkshire. His fathers name was Joseph George GRAINGER who would have lived in Ripon for a time, at least. Verbal family history says that William Henry was the only child and both Joseph and wife died in an accident when William was an infant. I have sent away to Ripon newspaper for any articles on the parents accident but have received no answer as yet. Verbal family history says that his aunt and her husband raised him. I have no names or indication where they lived. I do have information from the 1881 census giving: William Granger b 1861 Inglebon, living with the Bamlett family and a Jane Arnos aged 61 at Stapleton William Grainger age 18 born Roxby living with John and Sarah Best both 58. However, these two Williams do not sound too promising to me!! William Henry was married 1892 Walthamstow, Essex to Alice New. It states that he was a widower. I am trying to find out who his first wife was and if he had any children by her. William was buried in Chingford Mount Cemetery. I am hoping that someone on the list knows anything about the Graingers in Ripon, Yorkshire and those in Walthamstow, Essex or have some resource handy to do a check for any Graingers and perhaps supply some information that will help me move on in my research. Thanks for any information or guidance Linda Prince Smith icarus@acncanada.net

    3. Posted on: GRAINGER Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/g/r/GRAINGER/queries/7 Surname: Grainger ------------------------- Leah, I think we're related!!! I don't know all the details (they're on my parents computer), but I know William Grainger left Holywood, N. Ireland in 1843-ish and settled in the Bruce-Grey county area of Ontario. I'm positive that the next generation married a Sarah Ann Page. My father's father was Mervyn Grainger (b. 1900-10?). He married Dorothy Franklin (b. 1914-ish?). What family branch are you looking for?
