PURPOSE The GOSE Mailing List is an e-mail list for genealogical research, discussion and sharing of information regarding Gose Family Genealogy in any place and at any time for ALL families with the Gose surname. Included are variations of this surname as sometimes found in various county documents and records, e.g. Goos, Goss, Gost, Ghost, Gase, and Gore. The list is hosted by members of the GOSE family and/or descendants thereof, in association with THE GOSE FAMILY WEBSITE. (still under construction) You must be a subscriber to post messages to the mailing list. A GOSE Genealogical Query Board <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/g/o/GOSE/queries> is also hosted by same for purpose of helping to gather new information on Gose family genealogy and to help clear up any discrepancies or confusion on posted information. The difference between the mailing list and the query board lies mainly in the scope of information communicated. While you may select to have automatic notification by email of any postings to the GOSE Query Board, the GOSE Mailing List will be used to communicate information and/or postings that may be found in other locations throughout the world. TWO VERSIONS TO CHOOSE FROM: GOSE-L is for individual messages to be delivered to your e-mail address. As each subscriber to the list sends messages to the list address, you will receive a copy of the message. To subscribe send an e-mail message to: GOSE-L-request@rootsweb.com <mailto:GOSE-L-request@rootsweb.com> with one word in the body of the message: subscribe GOSE-D is for a digest of several accumulated messages to be delivered to your email address. As each subscriber to the list sends messages to the list address, they are put into a digest to be delivered later. The digest is generated approximately once a day and delivered to digest subscribers. This option is handy for people who don't want multiple messages to accumulate in their mail box. Do NOT use a signature file attached to the e-mail message. The software reads your message and tries to answer each command it finds. When it runs across your signature file it gets a bit confused and will send you a message stating something like 'Do not recognize command 'Jones'.
