I've been taking a little time off from my regular work for others and found some new Gorin data that some of you might be interested in and want to list it below: History of Tood and Christian, Kentucky, Historical and Biographica, Chicago, F A Batty, 1884, p. 60: (Todd Co). On May 8, 1820, pursuant to the act of General Assembly forming the county, James Glenn, Robert Coleman, HENRY GORIN,...... met at the house of James Kendall and organized the first magisterial court of Todd County. Page 301. Dr. John O. McReynolds, of Elkton, Todd County, Ky. is one of the prominent physicians of southern Kentucky and was born in Appomattox County, Va., November 30, 1827; he descends from Scotch-Irish ancestors, who were first represented in the United States by James and John McReynolds with their widowed mother. They settled in Pennsylvania but soon after moved to Virginia from whence have emanated James C. and Mary B. McReynolds, emigrated to Kentucky in 1833, settling in Trigg County, where they died, the mother in 1836, and the father in 1844. In 1846, John O. came to Elkton, Todd County, and studied medicine under Dr. James A. McReynolds; entered the Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia in 1847; ....... he has been twice married, first to Miss Julia P. Gorin in 1858, who died the same year...." Henry spoken of in the first citation was Henry Gorin, brother of John and Gladin. Julia Gorin was the daughter of Henry Gorin and Maria Whitaker - this Henry being the son of John and Elizabeth Franklin Gorin of Glasgow. Jerome Gorin, grandson of Henry and Sarah Pell Gorin was a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, 12th General Assembly, 5 Jan 1857. Switzler's Illustrated History of Missouri from 1541 to 1871, St. Louis, C R Barns, 1879, p. 323. "On Thursday, February 28th, 1861, the Convential (Gamble State) assembled in the court house in Jefferson City (MO), and the following gentlemen presented certificates of election: 5th District: Henry M. Gorin ..." Henry Madison Gorin was the son of John Darns Gorin and Martha Thomas Gorin, grandson of Henry and Sarah Pell Gorin. According to the R L Polk Directory of Pueblo Co CO 1913-1919, Scott Lively Gorin and wife Henrietta were residents of Pueblo CO. Scott gg-grandson of Gladin and Nancy Hinch Gorin. A History of Greene and Jersey Counties, Illinois, Springfield, Illinois, Continental Historical Co., 1885. "On Monday, December 6, 1869, J M Hurd, county judge; Caleb Noble and G W GORIN, associates justices, entered upon the duties of the county court, having been elected to those offices at the regular election that fall (Page 90). "J M Hurd was duly elected to the office of county judge in the fall of 1869, and entering upon the duties of the office with Caleb Noble and G W GORIN as associate justices carried on the business of the county for the ensuing three years, when he resigned." (p. 216). George Washing Gorin was the son of Gladin Gorin and Nancy Hinch. Histosry of Dewitt County, Illinois, Pioneer Publishing Co., 1910. Page 267: In December, 1832, Dr. Henry Gorin settled in Barnett township and began the practice of medicine and surgery. He was a native of Missouri and upon his arrival in Illinois stopped a while at Decatur. He remained in Barnett township about one year and then returned to his native state." Page 405: "Other old settlers were ..... Dr. Henry M. Gorin ..." This is Henry Madison Gorin above who a physician, a teacher, and owned a mercantile during his life time, plus being a state rep.
