    3. You never know when and where information will pop up. I recently was web browsing and saw a family tree on the Davidson family; in particular Marshall Emory Davidson. I knew that this Davidson family had come from Glasgow KY and is well known here. I have been corresponding with the publisher of this web site, Rebecca Davidson who has been an abundant source of information. Marshall Emory Davidson married Virginia Catherine Gorin, daughter of Sanford Pell Gorin and Martha Ann or Jane Gant. Sanford was the son of Henry and Sarah Pell Gorin and brother to John Darns Gorin. John D Gorin had settled in Vandalia IL when it was the capitol of IL and died there. Sanford and his family moved up to Woodford/Tazewell Co IL as did the Davidsons from here; they appeared to be part of the "traveling church" coming out of the oldest Baptist church here in Barren Co, Mt. Tabor. Marshall's father was Caleb Davidson and his entire family ended up in what is now Eureka IL. Rebecca sent me some notes from the Christian Church (Church of Christ) at Eureka and among the constituting members (1st members) were Richard B and Isabel McCorkle. "Richard Blythe McCorkle, the other founding elder, was born in North Carolina in 1786. In 1811 he married Isabel Campbell who had been born in Lincoln County, Ky, in Lebanon County, Tenn. They came to southern Illinois and then on to Tazewell County in the twenties. They were living in Holland's Grove when the church was organized. A son, J.B. Mc Corkle, later moved to Walnut Grove and lived on a farm south of Eureka College." Richard B's son Miles Blythe McCorkle married Martha Ann Gorin, another daughter of Sanford Pell Gorin. In another paper sent to me by Rebecca is the History of Eureka by Annie E. Davidson. She names the early settlers of what became Eureka which included the Majors, Dickinsons, Radfords, Davenports, Deweeses, Atterberries, Davidsons as the leading "spirits". All of these families came from Barren Co and the Atterberry family is my aunt's line. The Davidson farm was later deeded to Eureka College where they were among the founders. It is amazing sometimes to find little tidbits like this; my own family came from Logan Co IL and we lived in Peoria IL for some time; but I was too young in genealogy at that time that a few miles north of us were Gorin descendants.
