As a tribute to Veteran's Day, I've been able to locate the WWII draft registrations and the service records on our Gorin boys. They are said to be complete, but I know they aren't, I know several that are missing. For a few posts, I am going to go thru this records with you, in alphabetical order. Born 1911 in Jefferson Co TX, enlisted 4 Feb 1941 Houston TX. U S Air Corps, Private, Regular Army. Post graduate college, divers helper, single, no dependents, 69 in tall, 175 lbs. Charles Bartley Gorin (Henry). Draft card. Resided 4457 Beacon St, Chicago IL, born 8 July 1887. Born Louisiana, Pike, MO. Lumber salesman for G W Jones Lumber Co, Appleton Wisconsin. Had wife and child, married. Medium height, grey eyes, medium built, light brown hair. Charles Grizzle Gorin (Gladin). Age 25, resided 316 Sher__, Waco TX. Born 10 June 1871, Born Breenwood? TX. Railraod FCar Clerk in Waco. Single, dependent - Mother. Medium tall, medium build, brown eyes, brown hair. (Draft card) Clifford Hill Gorin (Henry). Draft card. Resided 4738 Beacon, Chicago IL. Born Louisiana MO. Assitant Clerk for American Telephone & Telegraph Co, worked 212 W Washing St. Had wife and child. Short, medium buld, brown eyes, dark eyes, Donald C[lay] Gorin (Gladin)Service record. Born 1915 NV, resided Los Angeles CA. Enlisted 14 Mar 1941 in Los Angeles. Warrant Officer, Private, had 4 years of high school, was a librarian, single, no dependents. Height 73", weight 146 lbs. Harrison Gorin (Gladin). Service record. Born 1894 KY, resided Middlesex Co CT. Enlisted 24 Oct 1945 SC at Florendce Army Air Field. US Air Corps, Staff Sergeant. Enlisted for Hawaiian Dept, regular army. National Guard in Federal service. Grammar school, maried, height 66 inches, weight 464 lbs. I do believe this is in error! His draft card shows he resided 277 Main in Middlesex; born 26 Apr 1894, born Bowling Green KY. Lineman for Stone & White Co of Middleton CT. Single, previous service as Private for 1 1/2 years. Medium tall, medium build (whew!), blue eyes, brown hair. to be continued in next post soon. Sandi
