If you had any ancestors in KY, this site will be of great help to you. It has not officially been announced yet so this is a scoop; I know the developer and have been working the site today. The URL is: http://kyvitals.com/vis/search/search_death_recs.php The goal is to get all the KY death certificates (1911-) on file - not just the names and dates but copies of the death certificate. This will be followed with the birth certificates, and then hopefully marriages. Right now there are 25,000 death certificates on the site, and the names and dates of all the deaths 1911- are shown. If there is a certificate on line (which prints out beautifully!), there will be a yes in the right column. If it says no ... the certificate is coming. They are adding about 7,000 certificates a month right now. I checked out the Gorin's since many were still here by 1911, found 2 certificates on line -one is not a Gorin but a Gowrin. The developers are adding some last minute frills including a "post it note" function which will allow the searcher to add a note such as "this is my line, please contact me if you have further information" or "this is not a Gorin but rather a Gowrin", etc. When you enter the name you can search on a particular county (or all) and the name (full name or surname). It will also link with the mother's maiden name also. You might want to bookmark this site and check any surnames you have in KY. I also found a death date today which thrilled me. There is an old Reynolds Cemetery in the Beckton area (Barren Co) that has just a few stones in it and has not been recorded. My dear friend Martha found a newspaper clipping (which I'll try to get a copy of soon) for Nancy Gorin. This is Nancy James, daughter of James James (don't you love that?) and Susan Beckham. Nancy married Rowan Tipton Gorin who was a son of our founder here - John Gorin and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth Turpin Duvall. Rowan and Nancy had 3 children - one of which will be of particular interest to Gary on the list ... Susan, Emma and James S. James S married Sarah Ellen Reynolds. The Reynolds intermarried with the James and Gorin family 3 times - they were all neighbors. James and Sarah Ellen's children were Samuel, William and John Rogers Gorin. It is John Rogers Gorin that Gary now knows much more about - it was his family that spelled their name Goren and led to a life-long search for their family. Thankfully, Gary found my files on line and everything matched up showing that his John R Goren was our John Rogers Gorin. This was one very happy reunion! So - try your kin in KY after 1911 (this is when KY began keeping birth and death records) and see if you find anything. To be able to see the actual certificate is so much better than just having the name and date on file! My best - Sandi
