Hi Everyone, Hope the holidays were good to one and all. I have a late Christmas present for some of you. I found Hannah. Hannah C. Cavendish is resting peacefully at the Tulocay Cemetery in Napa, CA. The Director of the Cemetery said that he found her listed in their records, but no plot was listed. But, there are other Gorham's buried there. The kind lady who is helping me with the search has family buried there from the early 1870's, so she is familiar with the cemetery. It's the oldest one in Napa and well known. We'll be meeting there on Tuesday to see if we can locate Hannah's plot an take pictures of it and the other Gorham's. If she doesn't have a marker, we'll make sure she gets one. I have the following newspaper articles. Will get the name and the dates of the newspaper as soon as possible. "Death of an Aged Lady.--Mrs. Gorham, mother of Mrs. A. D. Tuttle, and grandmother of Mrs. ?. E. Corcoran, a lady aged something over 99 years, died yesterday at the residence of Mr. Tuttle, on Calistoga Avenue. She was a bright active old lady, and had usually enjoyed good health." "Mrs. A. D. Tuttle, died at Foss Valley, last Thursday night of enlargement of the liver. Deceased was seventy-one years of age. She was the grandmother of Mary and Clem? Lee. Her mother, Mrs. Gorham, who died three or four years ago, lived to the advanced age of 102 years." On the same page with Mrs. Tuttle's article: "On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors appointed Edwin Gorham janitor of the Court House, Shepherd Schwen having resigned that position." >From the "Great Register of Napa County": #3751 Book No. 1886 Page No. 38 Name: Tuttle, Ambrose Dudley Age: 69 Nativity: Kent Date of Registration: 7 Sept 1880 Occupation: Farmer Place of Residence: Napa Copied from: Napa County Deaths Book 1 1873-1903 Page 99 & 100 No. 314 Full Name of Deceased: Hannah C. Age at Death: 99 years 1 mo 17 days Birthplace: Virginia Cause of Death: Old Age Color or Race: W Note: I found Ambrose Tuttle in the 1850 Census in MO, and in the 1870 Census in Nevada Co., CA. Apparently, one of Hannah's daughter's had a second marriage to Ambrose Dudley Tuttle, and judging from the dates, I'm assuming it to be Susannah. Hannah died in 1875. Mrs. Tuttle died 3 or 4 years later at age 71. That put's the birthdate of the daughter at about 1808, which is the year I have listed for Susannah. But then again, they said her mother died at age 102. So I'll have to wait until I see all the paperwork. I'll try and get everything put together and ready to e-mail by the end of the week.
