Ny and he died 12-7-1881 in Guilford Twnshp, Winnebago County, Ill. He is the son of JOhn gorham and Ruth Ogden and my gggg grandfather, STephen Gorham is John's brother. Stephen is born in Vermont i believe but John is born 1777 in Vermont or Connecticut. Do not relate Edwin to a Gardner T. Gorham. Those are different families as i have learned latly. I show Edwin married a Rhoda?? who is born 6-14=1814 in Penn and she died 12-28-1891 in Ill. They had a daughter, Lucy Gorham born ?? who married an Edwin Fuller c1876 in Ill. I have not researched more on this family. Hpe this helps. Marilyn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I just wanted to update you on my info. Do you have any proof of Betsy Thayer in Morgan Co, IL with Stephen Gorham? My Stephen Gorham d in 1855 in Jacksonville, IL. His will (write to Circuit Court Clerk, Morgan Co, Jacksonville, IL for a copy) mentions these children: John, Josiah, Gardner T, Stephen, Jr, Adaline (nee Gorham) Brown, Sarah (nee Gorham) Henderson, and James H. PS. I have not found Stephen Sr's Grave although I have an unlabeled picture of broken headstone. The oldest cemeteries in Jacksonville, IL are East Cemetery and Diamond Grove. You can get database of Gorham graves on-line. Google Jacksonville, IL cemeteries. You will find a Jane Gorham listed 1815-1899 ... I hope that is Stephen Sr's 2nd wife and that his grave marker will also be there. However, that Jane might also be Sarah Jane wife of John Gorham (Stephen Sr's son) I hope to visit cemetery at some point. Where are you located? Near Jacksonville, IL? Stephen Sr's wife in 1855 was Jane (possibly a 2nd marriage). I am still trying to prove my Stephen Sr had a wife named Betsy Thayer in IL. My Stephen was in New York, then Ohio (Delaware Co seems correct), then IL. Stephen's family arrived in IL in Morgan County in 1823 purchasing farmland. Search http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/Logon/Logon_Form.asp for more info on that. You will also find land purchases by Stephen, Sr sons, Gardner T & James H. PS. Ohio --- Delaware County District Library, 84 Winter St, Delaware OH 43015 .... Joe O'Rourke (jorourke@delwarelibrary.org found a Steven Gorham in Brown Township who started a salt business in 1817, but left area when business failed. The book John Howland of the Mayflower, Vol I (available at your local Mayflower Society) has first five generations ... up to Stephen Gorham & Betsy Thayer. Hope this helps, Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He married Aram's daughter, Laurena Gorham. It was a first marraige of Laurena's. Then she married a William Robinson. I know some about this family. But am interested too very much in this Gorham Bible. Does this man still live in Dallas? Laurena was called "Rena" as well. I know Laurena and William robinson are both buried in White Plains, New York. Laurena was 17 when she married William Benson, who was 21. Laurena lived in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada and William was from St. Mary's, Ont. Canada. Maybe this might help to find this William BENSON with the Family Bible.
