I now have proof of William Gorham being son of Matthias Gorham and Dorcas Crowell, which was the main thing I was stuck on with this tree. The Rachel Wilcox I mentioned was the wife of William Gorham. I have her birth as Jan 14, 1792, marriage to William Jan 18, 1816, death Nov 7, 1860. They lived in Kirby, Vermont in 1850. I was just curious if there was a connection between her and Ansel Wilcox. I don't have much on her (and none confirmed), except her parents, John Wilcox and Anna Crook, and of course, her children, since that is my line. These are priceless for this family. I am attempting to transcribe them. The family of Joel Everett and others of Viola's family are having a monument erected in their honor in our Hall of Fame here at the Old Greer County Museum. If you need contact information for Joel, I have it. The letters were given to us by another descendant of the Gorhams, Chiquita Seigrist of Hollis, Oklahoma. In moving the records were lost and the aunts have long passed so I am trying to rebuild it. Based on memory and notes on wonderful old photos from the 1800's, I know that the history needs to be from the David Gorham and Benjamin (Ben of the Turkey Foot) Gorham line. My great grandmother was Elizabeth Gorham Boyd ab 1812 to 1814 and her sister was Mary Gorham Webber, birthplace Maine, later residing in Detroit, MI. I only need to go back about 10 to 11 generations because my grandfather, Thomas P. Boyd was born ab 1854 and had my father in his 60's and I was born in my father's late 40's! I am happy to hear from you. Jasper is my great grandfather. I know more of the story now, but not anything from 1913 until 1941, when he is mentioned in isaac's obit to be living in st louis. I trailed israel and Rufus a bit, I don't understand what happens to the family. There was also a daughter, Cora, but I only have the birth record. I guess that makes us third cousins. I'm a total amateur at genealogy, and I'm wondering how I can find the vital records you've mentioned. If you happen to have copies, would you be willing to scan and email them to me? Or, maybe they are available online? I live in Canada, but I do plan to make a special clue-finding mission to the Massachusetts area at some point. So, if I have to go to a gov't office to find them, I will. Do you think Ansel Wilcox might have been related to Rachel Wilcox? It's interesting that the name comes up again mixed with the Gorhams.
