John B Gordon was one of the most beloved Generals in the Confederacy. He was a great man in civilian life before, during and after the War ( There was only one War for Southerners, the War of northern Aggression. For the ignorant and the non-Southerners it was the Civil War. John B Gordon was a most famous Georgian. His statue is at the state capitol in Atlanta on the NW corner of the lawn. Now that the coward SOBs pulled the real Georgia flag down and hid most of the Confederate bust from the public on the inside of the capitol they will probly remove the statue of John B Gordon and replace it with a statue of Jesse Jackson and Gov Barns shacking hands. General Gordon was a man of some wealth before the War and managed to have money after the War. During Reconstruction when Southerners were starving he fed them. When Southerners home were taken or burned he housed them. If you don'y know that CSA stands for the Confederate States of America then you don't knot that during Reconstruction the South was under military rule. Carpetbaggers were the tax/land collectors. Ex-Slaves were placed in elected positions and in law enforcement. Conferderates who returned home after the war found that their homes had been burn or taken. All the home furnishings had already been taken by the yankee soldiers during the War along with the livestock and food. The crop land was poisoned as were the wells. Their guns were taken so they could not hunt. To add insult to injury, the Confederates, found their wives, mothers and daughters had been raped by yankee soldiers. They were not allowed to vote or run for office or even hold office. If these Southerners were seen in their Confederate uniforms they were shot on sight. If they were out after 10pm they were shot on sight. John B Gordon did what he could to feed and care for his Confederate compatriots in their bad situation. General John B Gordon will always be a great Georgia hero. Harold Harrison Confederate American
