This Richard Gordon is the Richard Gordon who was born in Henry County, VA, in 1766, moved to Wilkes Co., NC., Wilkes Co., GA, to Franklin Co., GA where he served at Walton's Fort. Then he marched to Bledsoe's Lick in Sumner Co., TN., then to Powell Valley, VA. where he married. He and Susannah moved on to Madison Co., KY, then to Cumberland Co., KY, then to Jackson Co., TN. While in Madison Co. Richard served as bondsman for the marriage of Mary "Polly" Gordon and Samuel Black, but what if any relationship existed between Mary and Richard I don't know. He was too young and hadn't been married long enough to have been her father. I'm aware of all those Madison Co. Gordons but don't have a clue as to who any of them are other than Richard. Joyce
