Your Samuel Gordon appears to have been a younger man than the other Gordons who were in Madison Co., KY. during the time my Richard Gordon was there. >From deed records and other sources, I know that Richard married the widow Susannah Fork in about 1788 in Russell Co., VA. She was the widow of Joshua Butcher/Bucher/Boucher, Jr., at the time she married William Fork. Richard and Susannah moved to Milford, Madison Co., KY. Marriage records in Madison Co., KY, reveal the following Gordon marriages: Samuel married Mary Gordon 25 Feb 1789 Robert married Millie Kennedy 9 Jun 1791 Mary married Samuel Black 19 Jan 1795 David married Jinny Boyles 21 Aug 1796 Robert married Sarah Robinson 16 Apr 1805 James married Elizabeth Stockstil 17 Mar 1807 Samuel married Rachael Herrin 28 Jan 1817 John married Sophia Hawkins 22 Feb 1825 Thomas married Alzira Haris 17 Jan 1827 The two Roberts, the two Samuels, and the two Marys may have taken second spouses or we could have two families of Gordons here, but the marriages are grouped so closely that these people most likely were near the same age. Of course there were many, many Gordons among the early settlers, so we can't make any assumptions about their relationships one to another, especially when we find them on such a well defined migration route as trails leading from Cumberland Gap. But I'd sure like to hear from others who think their Gordon ancestors might be one of these Madison Co., KY, residents. Joyce
