Joann, I have a William D. GORDON in Graves County, KY. Born: 28 Apr 1840 TN, died 17 July 1922, buried Rhodes Cemetery (Graves Co.,KY), married Sarah J. "Sallie" WIGGINS, in 1863, Sallie was born: 16 Feb 1842 Graves Co., KY, died 28 Mar 1915, buried Rhodes Cemetery also. They had the following children: 1. Robert Alan "Bob" GORDON (1865) m/Sarah RHODES 2. Ophelia Ann "Polly" GORDON (1866) m/Thomas C. "Tom" CALDWELL 3. T.M. GORDON (1870)(died at 9 yrs. old) 4. Hettie (J. orG.) GORDON (1872) m/J.R. FULLER 5. John Logan "J.L." GORDON (1876) m/Teenie May DICK 6. Mary "Mollie" GORDON (1878)twin m/Ed PARTON 7. Martha "Mattie" GORDON (1878)twin m/Leander A. ALDERDICE Their firstborn, Robert, was my husband's great grandfather. His son, William Frank GORDON (1888-1953), was his grandfather, and William Alfred GORDON (1917-1975), was his father. I have additional information on all of the names I have mentioned, if they are of interest to anyone. They only names that I recognize, in your post, are William and John, although I know of no connection to yours and mine. I haven't been able to get back any further than William D., at this point. However, I am led to believe that William D.'s father was also named William and was from South Carolina, by way of Tennessee, but I have no further information on that. I believe I saw evidence of this in a will in Graves County, KY, but have misplaced my documentation.
