It was a small sign, on Rte One in Searsport, Me. saying " Gordon Cemetary"Up a two rut gravel road between farm houses was a neat cemetary of 100 or so stones and these Gordons: Joseph Gordon A Soldier Of The Revolution from Aug. 1775 to June 1783 d May 9 1849 aged 89 years " An Honest Man" Dolly His Wife died May 11 1853 aged 85 years 4 mos ------------------ Sarah wife of George Gordon d. Oct 1 1839 aged 41 y 6 m ------------------ Charles Gordon d Jan 12 1873 aged 78 y 1 m 10 d ----------------- Eliza Jones wife of Capt Charles Gordon June 30 1889 aged 80 y 8 m 3 d ------------------ big stone- front GORDON Charles Fredrick Gordon May 7 1843 Oct 22 1901 son of Charles and Eliza Gordon back Charles F Gordon Jan 1 1827 Oct 1 1849 Andrew Tyler Gordon Dec 19 1830 Dec 28 1855 John Smith Gordon Oct 22 1832 Oct 7 1864* * I assume the GAR marker at this stone is John's ------------------- These folks are from too far north in Maine to be my Gordons, perhaps they are part of another listers lineage :O) John Wesley Gordon ( with the help of his sharp eyed wife! ) ps to Doug Smith- Notice the Andrew, Fredrick and Eliza?
