My earliest proved Gordon ancestor is James C. Gordon, born about 1805 in KY. Strong circumstancial evidence leads me to believe his father was Richard Gordon, and Richard stated on his Revolutionary War pension application that he was born in Henry Co., VA. in April 1766. Once when I was on the Henry County GenWeb page I found three Gordon families living there that were in the proper time frame for one of them to have been his parents. However, I've been unable to find that information on that site again. I could have been on one of the neighboring counties from which Henry was formed -- I just don't recall. But if anyone knows of any Gordons who were in Henry County prior to 1781 when Richard had moved on to Wilkes Co., NC, I would sure like to hear from you. Thanks. Joyce .
