I am new to the list. I joined because my sister and I have started on the genealogy quest and have been very fortunate except as to who really was our original ancester in this country. Here it is for anyone who might have some info: Adrian Gordan, or Gordin, or Gorden, now Gordy, was "transported from VA to Maryland in 1675 by William Brereton, (brewerton, and others) to Somerset Co. MD. Along with a Nicholas Todvane, and two otheres. Adrian is spelled many different ways also, Adain, Andrain, and had a alias, Bryan Gordin. We later hear of him in the will of his father-in-law, Michael Disharoon(Dusharoon) and also in the will of a second father-in-law, Robert Crouch. We know he existed, but we are not really sure if he is the "One". We have land purchase records with his name but never a mention of any children with either wife, there also may have been another wife inbetween the first too, only maybe. Two supposed sons, Peter and Moses Gordie have land purchases in 1733 which would put them as born about when the records say, 1710-1714. Not sure if Rose Crouch was the wife and mother, we are almost sure it was not the Disharoon since she died in early 1700's. We are thinking that Gordy or Gordie was a nickname for Gordon and because of the lack of education, it was never really spelled correctly. Has anyone in their search of the 1600's and early 1700's come across this name or anything close that might help. We have lots of "rumors" going around but I fear that what we find on the internet is not documented. Thanks for anything you might have to offer, Is Adrian a Scottish name? or some spelling close to that? Barbara and Melinda Gordy (Fox & Corporon)
