    1. Richard Gordon of Henry Co., VA
    2. On his RW pension application, Richard Gordon stated that he was born in Henry Co., VA, on 17 Apr 1766. That was actually Pittsylvania County at that time, and Archibald, Samuel, and the Rev Alexander Gordon can all be found in that county at that time. Any one of these three may have been Richard Gordon's father, but I've been unable to locate them after they left Henry County shortly after Richard's birth year. In 1781, Richard volunteered into the militia from Wilkes Co., NC, and served under Beverly, Herndon, and McDowell, all of whom were at King's Mountain the year before, along with William Fork, who may have become Richard Gordon's father-in-law in the Powell Valley of VA in about 1786. Does anyone know of the where-abouts of Archibald, Samuel, and the Rev. Alexander Gordon after they left Henry County, VA? Were they associated with the Gordons of Wilkes Co., NC? Were they later associated with the Gordons in Robertson Co., TN? Thanks for your thoughts. Joyce
