John --- 'Pears we're not related. Sometime after the Revolutionary War, my Gordons and a lot of their neighbors had moved up country to Hancock County. BTAIM, I have a few questions: 1) Where was "In the great fire of '47 in Maine the family homestead was burned down. . .?" Was it in York, York Harbor, York Beach or just York County? If just York County, where in York County? Do you have a description of it? 2) Just when did the brothers come over from Scotland? 3) Any idea of how many generations between the brothers and George of Kennebunk? -- Cheers, Jim Gordon, Laurel, MD USA [email protected] wrote: > > Hi listers! > Thanks for all the welcoming emails! > Here's the info I'm starting with- > over 30 years ago, my Great Aunt Winnie told me the first Gordons in our line > were 4 brothers, Mark, Matthew, Luke and John, who came over from Scotland. > In the great fire of '47 in Maine the family homestead was burned down, a > total loss, with all of her Grandfather's Civil War things lost.
