Could some of those 1850 Gordons have come into Louisiana? I first find Thomas Jefferson Gordon in/around Church Point (St. Landry Parish), La where the birth of his and Lucrettia Bushnell's first child is recorded in 1867. Next,( on 1870 census) he and his family are found near Iowa, LA and his age is listed as 25, with his birthplace listed as Alabama. On the 1880 census, he and his family are listed; his age as 32, and his birthplace given as Louisiana. So--perhaps---in 1850 he could have been 5-7 years old?? Ethel.
