Was it in York, York Harbor, York Beach or just York County? If just York County, where in York County? Do you have a description of it? Ans #1- The fire of '47 burned thousands of acres in Maine, from Wells to Bar Harbor. Author Joyce butler wrote a difinitive history, the exact title eludes me write now. My family, Gordons, lost property in Lyman, Kennebunk, and Goose Rocks. 2) Just when did the brothers come over from Scotland? 3) Any idea of how many generations between the brothers and George of Kennebunk? Ans #2&3 - Lordy, don't I wish I knew! I have ordered a book, ( thanks to a lister ) *The Gordon Family of Maine and New Hampshire (1946) 57 typewritten pages* from Higgensonbooks.com that sure sounds like 'The Gordons of York Co. Maine.' title that I was probably disremembering. ( hey, I was 9! ) While I await, I have made a date with a relation I have not seen in an embarrassingly long time. We'll see what we see. Thanks to listers I've also made starts on CW, marriage, and other records. I am on my way! :O) Thanks!! John Wesley Gordon
