Bjorn, I have a similar problem with my Norwegian ancestors - apparently when my Great-Grandfather Johannas Andrias Zakarias Knutesen came to the States from Bergen in the 1890's, he decided there were too many Knutesen's in New York, and so he adopted the family name "Kronstad" - they had lived at #14 Kronstadveien... It does make it a bit more difficult to track them down!
