A descendant of Sarah Gordon (b abt 1816) who, we believe, was the daughter of Richard Gordon, did extensive research on early Madison Co., KY records and found the following on Samuel: Marriages Madison Co., KY Samuel Gordon married Rachael Herrin 28 Jan 1817 Samuel Gordon married Mary Gordon 25 Feb 1789, bdsman Samuel. Tax Collection, Madison Co., KY Samuel Gordon, 1787, 1789, 1791, 1792, 1795. Cumberland Co., KY (taken from 1799 Tax List and includes only persons south of the Cumberland River.) Samuel Gordon, 1830, 1832 Other Gordons mentioned in those records at varying times were Robert, David, James, Thomas, Willis, John, Richard, The Richard Gordon in these records appears to be the one born in Henry Co., VA in 1766 and migrated to Wilkes Co., NC, to Wilkes Co., GA with his parents. As a militiaman, he marched from there to Sumner Co., TN, to Powell's Valley, VA; as a civilian married man he traveled to Madison Co., KY, Cumberland Co., KY, and finally to Jackson Co., TN. It's not known if this Samuel Gordon was the one living in Henry Co., VA, at the time of Richard's birth, and nothing is known about any of the others. Joyce
