Sheila, Thanks so much for your offer to help on my Gordons. I have a James Harvey Gordon b. we think 1793 or so prob. SC but have never found him in census records so can't be sure. He m. Elizabeth Lacey b. 1798 in Williamsburg Co. SC. I don't find this family until 1860 census in Ga, but they say in 1860 they are from NC, but every other census says from SC. On pension apps. they say SC. My interest, Wright Gordon is s/o James and Elizabeth Lacey Gordon and moved to GA around 1840, m. Rosetta Pope in Pulaski co. Ga 1847 and most of my family still lives there. He was in C/W, captured and paroled at Appomatox, made it home but d. 2 weeks after from fever contracted during the war. I have not been able to locate what part of SC they are from. Have researched extensively in Wmsburg. because that is definitely where Eliz. Lacey is from, and while there are Gordons there, they are not ours. Those Gordons are descended prob. from Roger Gordon who came in 1740-50 to Wmsburg and settled near Kingstree SC. He was from Pa. and most of his descendants scattered into other parts of the state. I have researched every line that was still there in 1790, but that is nowhere near all his descendants. I really have a hunch that the Buffington/Gordon line is part of this line also, as there are some of their Gordons that had land in Pulaski and also they m. into some of the same lines, Daniel, etc. that also settled near or in Pulaski. Wright Gordon b. 1824 supposedly had 2 older bros., Alexander and Elliot (not proven), and definitely had 2 younger bros. Harvey b. 1832 and Hardy b. 1837 in SC. So many puzzle pieces, so little concrete proof!! I have a little bit on Govin Gordon that I got from the Leonard Andrea files. Govin Gordon who m. Mary Harris, was Govin Gordon Jr. s/o Govin Gordon SR page 139 in "Gordons of the Deep South Govin Gordon's will p. 41 in the book does not name a son Govin Gordon, Jr. ,but says that "as for the rest of my children I have given them all their portion" Gvoin Gordon Jr is shown on deeds p. 139 of the book, Also shown on page is his wife Mary. The records that you have of Govin Gordon, Jr;s wife Mary were sent to me a short time ago. these records show: Jeanette Harris, wife of Abel or Levy Anderson. I haven't these records with me, but remember that the Anderson was one of Abraham Andersons sons who sigend the deed made to Gabriel Anderson on p. 27 in the book "Gordons of the Deep South" I have seen the record- Abraham Anderson d. in Newberry co. SC ca 1790. One child was Elizabeth Andrson w/o Thomas Gordon but gives no reference or proof. Have you the proof? (This is from will records of Berkely co. Will 11 July, 1763, Newberry file: Anderson Abraham Wife Ruth To: William Gordon, Goven Gordn and George Gordon (wife's ch.) my 4 yst sons Abraham, Levy, Henry, and Jacob.
