On 31 July 1840 Charles P. Gordon was assigned the north half of section 24, Twonship 16-N, Rance 28-E, St. Stephens Meridian, in Russell Co., Alabama. This land was originally the property of a Creek Indian. At the top of the paper there is a note saying, "Pat. sent to [looks like] Jos. Bryan Oct 13, 1840." Charles Gordon, s/o Thomas Gordon and Mary Buffington, married Dorcas Bryan. Is the Charles P.
