I have been reading the mail regarding Gordon's in SC who went to AL and MS. Although I have not found my ancestor among them, it seems possible that they were related. Here is my "problem" ancestor: William Gordon b. ca 1825 in Ireland. He was in Fairfield District, SC in the 1850 census, aged 25. His mother, Elizabeth, aged 50, was in the household with him and his wife, Elizabeth Jane Farrar. We do not know his father's name or any siblings. However, we do believe he had a brother, Robert, b. ca 1820 in Ireland. Robert and William and their wives were members of Old Lebanon Church then both went to Winston/Choctaw County, MS and became members of Bethsalem Presbyterian Church. William's wife, Elizabeth Jane Farrar, was a daughter of William Farrar. Her mother was from Ireland. My theory is that our Gordon's went to SC where they already had relatives. According to the family, they went from Ireland to SC in the 1830's. If anyone has any info or ideas, I would appreciate hearing them. Thanks in advance. Sue
