Susan,there were Govins(family name) in SC when Major Thomas Gordon died in 1808.Among administrations papers in the Estate of Thomas Gordson was a voucher."Note on or before the first day of Jan. I promise to pay Lucy Govin $12.25 for value received of her." Signed Aug.1808 Thomas Gordon Joseph Govin signed receipt for payment by Eli Gordon, date May 20,1810. I presume that the Govin family must have been close friends, or it is possible they were kin for William and Elizabeth ? Gordon to name a son for them. God bless, Sheila
